“Together We Can Stop Trafficking” Project
Due to poverty and poor educational facilities in Cambodia, most of the population in Cambodia have minimal literacy levels. Many struggle to read and write at all. Child Wise believe that, despite this, it is imperative for everyone to be involved in discussions and developing solutions to community based problems such as human trafficking.
The “Together We Can Stop Trafficking” resource is a pictorial-based community engagement tool used to invoke community-based perspectives and solutions on human trafficking. Picture based community development tools are very important in involving and utilising the knowledge of poor, illiterate community members in Cambodia into developing solutions to their problems. The “Together We Can Stop Trafficking” picture collection and facilitators manual have been developed and the first Training of Trainers (TOT) on the manual was conducted in October 2010. After incorporating feedback from participants, the manual will be finalised and published in December 2010. The participants of the TOT are expected to utilise the manual within community trainings in slum communities that they work in during December 2010 and these will be monitored and evaluated by Child Wise staff. This project is conducted in cooperation with Catholic Relief Services and Youth for Peace Cambodia.
