Advocacy to Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People
Child sex trafficking is a global phenomenon that affects every country. In Cambodia, hundreds of children are trafficked into child sex slavery every year. Child Wise believe that we need to raise our voices to stop sex trafficking of children and young people.
Child Wise have transferred the ‘Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People’ Campaign into Cambodia by engaging with communities and activist partners in Cambodia in an advocacy campaign to eliminate child sex trafficking. Child Wise are advocating to and cooperating with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s National Committee on Trafficking in Persons in order to advance the national policy and procedures developed to respond to human trafficking in Cambodia.
Advocacy in Cambodia is very sensitive and Child Wise have developed a strategic advocacy plan. Child Wise attend all meetings of the Secretariat of the National Committee on Trafficking and have worked with them to build policy and procedures to stop human trafficking in Cambodia. Child Wise’s strategic advocacy efforts will become more publicly active upon the launch of our new Child Wise Cambodia website which is expected to be ready by early 2011. This website will enable Child Wise to raise more awareness about the organisation through public statements and further disseminate media releases on human trafficking related issues.
